How to Lose Fat on the Stomach and Thighs With Interval Training

When we are looking to reduce body fat then an important factor in achieving this goal is to do lots of cardio vascular exercise. However to get the quickest and most effective results we need to do a certain type of cardio. This is called interval training, which is basically a period of short intense exercise followed by a period of low intensity to allow you to recover. Then you keep repeating this pattern for a certain length of time.

In my opinion interval training is the best form of cardio to lose fat on the stomach, thighs or any other problem areas.

So an interval type workout in some respects is harder than a regular more steady state approach due to the intense bursts but also easier because of the less intense recovery periods. Also due to the high level of energy used, interval-training workouts are much shorter than traditional cardio workouts.

To explain this further here is a interval training workout you can try next time you're in the gym.

Begin with a 5-minute warm up where you just are working at a steady state then do your first interval of 30 seconds of hard work followed by 60-90 seconds of easy pace that will allow you to recover properly.

When doing 30 second intervals start the pace at a moderate level and increase this up with every interval so that the last couple should be your hardest. Over time as you progress you want to be working at maximum intensity.

Repeat this pattern for between 15-30 minutes depending on your conditioning. Then finish with a 3-5 minute cool down at a relaxed pace.

Regarding the best exercise to perform I have always had my best results doing running. Whether it is outside doing hill and wind sprints or on the treadmill in the gym. I think that because sprinting is just so demanding on your whole body this creates the most intense metabolic reaction to burn a lot of calories not just during the workout but a long time after as well.

However for many people just going straight into sprinting can be a step too soon so for those just starting out I think stationary cycling is the next best option.

But when using the bike you must use a lot of resistance and attempt to work at a rate of between 80-100. This combination of speed and resistance will ensure that you are working hard enough to burn lots of calories and therefore fat. But don't worry ladies it won't build your thighs up!!

By all means try other forms of exercise and machines but if your not seeing the results then you may have to try one of the methods mentioned here. I like skipping and working on the heavy bag for a change and I have found they do work well.

So if you're struggling to lose fat on the stomach and thighs give interval training a try I guarantee you will see the difference.
